Rejuvenated
After the snowfall
The land wakes up
Crawls out
From under its white blanket
Birds start singing
Rabbits and squirrels hop
The landscape is pristine
An old man walks
A snowy trail
He feels his tired bones
Awakening
Warming to the day
His mind comes alive
Rejuvenated
Thoughts begin to flow
He hums a favorite tune
He looks to the sun
And squints
It’s a winter wonderland
A reason to stay alive
He happily continues
Stepping livelier
Not wanting
The day to end.
